Odd, how such words were spoken like confessions - ones Rosalind did not wish to share, or perhaps, was unused to speaking aloud. Yet Alexia could not hold it against her. With a smile reserved only for the present company, she rose a hand and rest it upon the curve of the other’s cheek, eyes tracing the patterns her thumb stroke against freckles.
“You need not apologise, dear Rosalind. I understand. Your work is important and I would not want to selfishly keep your attention.” A lie, but one she weaved out of necessity, to keep the good physicist in her favour. “Tell me you will stay, for the moment, at least.”

of her physical appeal, every aspect of her being was symmetrical and lacked any sort
of blemish or flaw.
"Despite your assurance, I am remorseful.” Hushed tones were used. “I will stay for just as long as I am able. I assure you this, dear Alexia.” Returning the term of affection, unaware of what else she could come to use.. That had been something to dwell upon.
“Forgive me and my rather evident sensibility.”
